[If you didn’t get a chance to read my previous blog posts "Piano at the Party" and “Solace”, please do so. They help lay the foundation for this post as I unpack “Finding Solace and Clarity in the Heart of the Divine.”]

As stated in my previous blog posts, navigating a world in chaos requires solace, and in authentic solace we find clarity.

The clarity to which I refer is to possess a perspective that enables us to engage the world both rationally and compassionately. It’s seeing things objectively, empathetically, and beyond “self.”

It’s perceiving things from God’s view, from the heart of the Divine.

This perspective brings tremendous freedom. There’s nothing lurking in the shadows to harm us, no pending doom. We see things more lucidly, accurately, and hopefully. It enables us to engage with others without pretense. It allows us to accept the truth that while we do not naturally walk in solace nor clarity, the ultimate supernatural power, God, offers it to us through Jesus Christ.

Prior to possessing such clarity, the world appears like a Rorschach Test—random ink stains that magically conform to our predisposed worldview. If we believe people of a certain race are bad, the world as we see it confirms it. If we believe we can identify as anything we please, the world as we see it confirms it. If we believe a certain political party is the answer to our felt needs, the world as we see it confirms it.

But real clarity does not come through our subjective perception of life, through “ink stains” becoming whatever we like. Nor is it achieved by intellectual prowess or bluster. It’s given to us when we find solace in the heart of the Divine, as God gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him will have eternal life—abiding solace and clarity.

With such clarity we can see ourselves accurately. We can engage the world empathetically, compassionately, and courageously.

Most importantly, in this clarity we can see and follow God.
